Probably the most prepped food group during #mealprepsunday (or #mealprepmonday 😜) I thought I would start sharing with you 3 protein meal prep tips.

🖤 Incorporate a variety of sources. You’ll see in this picture we have Chicken, Turkey, Red Meat, Eggs, Greek Yogurt and some easy Plant Based microwaved meals (#traderjoes frozen Indian meals are 🙌🏼)

🖤To help your sanity, try a combination of already prepped (ie. Convenience) proteins and which ones can be used to cook during the week. My plan here is to have Indian Food and Orange Chicken on hand in the freezer for the laziest of lazy nights. The chicken breast are being cooked all at once for salads and lunches during the week. The salmon and ground beef are surprisingly quick and easy dinners (pasta with meat sauce and rosemary sheet pan salmon). I have two cartons of eggs here, one to hard boil and one to use for fresh scrambled or poached eggs. .

🖤Think outside the box with plant based options. Hemp seeds, chia seeds, nuts, beans...all can help you meet your protein needs. I love topping Vanilla Greek Yogurt with Honey Roasted Almonds or Peanut Butter Toast with Hemp Seeds. .

I became a dietitian in 2012, and took the inpatient clinical route for many years. Fast forward to April 2017, I started teaching HealthyCooking Classes for the navy. Talk about dream job! 😍
.
Last summer, I set out to open a private practice. I had been so focused on culinary dietetics and general clinical nutrition, I wasn’t quite sure where to niche down. After almost a year of soul searching, here is where I have discovered my passions lie:
🖤 Bringing joy back to the table, and making eating a pleasure as opposed to a stressful event. 🖤Talking to clients, getting deep, about their relationship with food and their bodies and taking steps to heal that relationship.
🖤 The gut and brain connection, and how our thoughts affect our gut, and vice-versa.
🖤 How certain foods can be implemented in your meal and snack routine to boost your brain power, fuel your performance, and help you nurture your passions. .
Yesterday, someone asked me what my ideal client is, and honestly, I had such a hard time answering this, because I really do love working with people from all walks of life. Some have eating disorders, some are endurance runners, some are struggling with mental health, some are military, some are yo-yo dieting and tired of it, some have horrible stomach pain. .
I am a #haes and #mentalhealth informed practitioner, who cares more about your story, your habits, and your relationship to food and your body more than the number on the scale. .
Couple other fun things about me: 👓I am a big pop culture nerd who goes to #comiccon and loves all-things #horror...and #disney
🐍speaking of nerds, I run for the house of #slytherin with the #potterheadrunningclub #phrc 🥇I am an endurance runner,  training for my 3rd #marathon
🎤I am a singer, dancer, actor and perform with a vocal ensemble (aka. grown-up glee)

I added a side of sourdough toast with butter and some fresh basil to step up my breakfast. .

Wondering what #shakshuka is? It’s a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean breakfast dish, usually made of onions, tomatoes, peppers and spices (like paprika and cayenne pepper) that is topped with poached eggs. It is a satisfying and savory way to start your day. Home made is great, buy this quick and easy, hands off version is a great option too. .
